Ready in under an hour, this quick stovetop version captures the signature taste of the original with ground beef, onions, spices, and a touch of tomato. Ingredients
- Main: 2 lbs (900g) ground beef
- 1 large yellow onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced (optional)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- Spices: 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- To Serve: Shredded cheddar, chopped onions, sour cream
Instructions
- Brown beef: In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
