🥩 Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich
This **Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich** is a classic copycat of the famous Philadelphia favorite! Tender slices of steak, sautéed onions and peppers, and melted cheese piled high on a soft hoagie roll — it's a hearty, flavorful sandwich perfect for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- Steak & Veggies: 1 lb (450g) ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cheese: 4 slices provolone (or Cheez Whiz, American)
- Sandwich: 4 hoagie or sub rolls, split
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting rolls)
Instructions
- Sear steak: In a large skillet or griddle, heat oil over high heat. Add steak and sear 2–3 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Cook veggies: In the same pan, sauté peppers and onions 8–10 minutes until soft and golden. Add garlic in the last minute.
- Combine: Return steak to the pan. Stir to mix with veggies. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add cheese: Lay provolone slices over the steak mixture. Cover pan for 1–2 minutes to melt.
- Toast rolls: Butter the cut sides of the rolls and toast in the pan or under a broiler.
- Assemble: Spoon steak and cheese mixture onto each roll. Serve immediately.
Tip: For the true Philly experience, use Cheez Whiz and serve with a side of wavy potato chips! You can also add mushrooms or hot peppers for extra flavor.
