🍪 NYC Chocolate Chip Cookies
These **NYC Chocolate Chip Cookies** are thick, chewy, and packed with melty chocolate — just like the famous bakery-style cookies! With a crisp edge, soft center, and a hint of sea salt on top, they're the ultimate homemade treat.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chunks)
- Flaky sea salt (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Dry mix: In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream butter & sugars: In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 min).
- Add eggs & vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Combine: Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Scoop & bake: Drop 2-tbsp scoops 2 inches apart on baking sheets. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers are soft.
- Cool 5 minutes on sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
Tip: For extra chewiness, chill the dough 30 minutes before baking. You can also freeze unbaked scoops and bake straight from frozen (add 1–2 min).
