🌭 Hot Dog and Fried Rice
This **Hot Dog and Fried Rice** is a quick, fun, and surprisingly delicious twist on classic fried rice! Packed with diced hot dogs, colorful veggies, and savory soy sauce, it's a perfect way to use leftovers or whip up a fast weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3–4 hot dogs, diced
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup frozen peas and carrots (or mixed veggies)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups cold, cooked rice (preferably day-old)
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 3 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep: Have all ingredients prepped and ready. Cold rice works best for non-sticky texture.
- Cook hot dogs: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add diced hot dogs and cook 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté veggies: In the same pan, add onion and frozen veggies. Cook 4–5 minutes until tender. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Cook eggs: Push veggies to one side. Pour beaten eggs into the pan and scramble until fully cooked.
- Add rice: Stir in cold rice, breaking up clumps. Cook 3–4 minutes, stirring often.
- Add flavor: Return hot dogs to the pan. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Stir to combine and heat through.
- Garnish & serve: Top with sliced green onions. Serve hot as a main dish or side.
Tip: For extra flavor, add a dash of teriyaki sauce or sriracha. You can also swap hot dogs for cooked bacon, ham, or chicken.
