🍯 Honey Garlic Chicken
This Honey Garlic Chicken is a family favorite — tender chicken pieces coated in a sweet, sticky, garlicky glaze that's bursting with flavor! Ready in under 30 minutes and perfect served over rice, noodles, or alongside a fresh salad.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs (680g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 5–7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté garlic: In the same pan, add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant (avoid burning).
- Make sauce: Stir in honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
- Thicken: Whisk together cornstarch and water. Stir this mixture into the sauce and cook for 1–2 minutes until glossy and thickened.
- Add chicken back: Return the cooked chicken to the pan, stirring to coat it evenly in the sauce. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to ensure everything is heated through.
- Serve: Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately over rice, quinoa, or noodles.
Tip: Double the sauce if you like it extra saucy! This recipe also works well as a make-ahead meal — it stores beautifully in the fridge for up to 4 days.
