🍫 German Chocolate Pie
This **German Chocolate Pie** is a rich, creamy, and decadent twist on the classic German chocolate cake! A chocolate cookie crust is filled with smooth chocolate pudding and topped with a sweet coconut-pecan filling. It's the ultimate dessert for chocolate lovers!
Ingredients
- Crust: 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (Oreo or chocolate graham), 5 tbsp melted butter
- Filling: 1 (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix, 1 3/4 cups cold milk, 1 cup whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
- Topping: 1/2 cup evaporated milk, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 egg yolks, 2 tbsp butter, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup sweetened coconut flakes, 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Make crust: Mix cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press firmly into a 9-inch pie dish. Chill.
- Make filling: Whisk pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes. Let thicken 5 minutes. Fold in whipped topping. Pour into crust.
- Cook topping: In a saucepan, combine evaporated milk, brown sugar, egg yolks, and butter. Cook over medium heat 7–10 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla, coconut, and pecans.
- Cool topping: Let cool 10–15 minutes (to prevent melting filling), then spread over pie.
- Chill: Refrigerate at least 3 hours (preferably overnight) until set.
- Serve: Slice and enjoy cold. Store leftovers covered in the fridge.
Tip: For a shortcut, use a store-bought chocolate pie crust. You can also toast the pecans first for extra flavor!
