Homemade Garlic Bread Bowls. I love bread bowls but it seems they are only a something you get to enjoy at a seaside restaurant. Today I'm going to share with you an easy homemade garlic bread bowl recipe that is so simple it will help you enjoy them whenever you want! 3 cups - water at 110° - 115°
6-7 cups - all purpose flour
1 tsp - salt
2 tbsp - sugar
2 tbsp - active dry yeast
1 tbsp - minced garlic
1 - egg white mixed with one tbsp water
Instructions
Start by mixing yeast water and sugar and allowing to sit for 1-2 mins to activate.
In a large bowl combine 2 cups flour with the water, yeast and sugar recipe and mix thoroughly. Then slowly and several cups of flour at a time until the dough is no longer sticky.
Knead dough for 6-8 minutes and place in a greased bowl flipping once. Then cover and place in warm place until doubled.
Turn out dough onto a lightly floured working surface and divide into 6 equal portions. form divided dough into balls and place on a baking sheet that has been greased and coated with cornmeal. Cut small slits on the tops of balls to help keep the ball shape during the dough expansion. Cover and let rise for and additional 12-15 minutes until doubled.
Preheat oven to 400°
Coat bread bowls with egg whites and bake for 25 minutes or until browned. You can also coat additional egg whites onto bread bowls during the baking process if you want a darker crust.
Remove from oven and place on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Once cooled cut out the center to form bread bowl and enjoy!
