Glaze (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Make batter: In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, oil, eggs, and water until a smooth batter forms.
  3. Make cinnamon swirl: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Stir in the chopped pecans if using.
  4. Layer the batter: Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top. Finish by sprinkling the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  5. Swirl (optional): Use a butter knife or wooden skewer to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter for a marbled effect.
  6. Bake 45–50 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool 10 minutes in the pan, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Glaze (if using): In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk/cream, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.
  9. Slice and serve! Store covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Tip: For extra donut-like flavor, add 1/2 tsp nutmeg or a splash of maple extract to the batter. Reheat individual slices in the microwave for 15 seconds for a warm treat!
