🍩 Donut Cinnamon Bread
This Donut Cinnamon Bread is soft, sweet, and bursting with cinnamon-sugar flavor — just like your favorite glazed donut, but in a convenient, sliceable loaf form! Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet treat with coffee.
Ingredients
- 1 (18.25 oz) box yellow cake mix
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Glaze (Optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- Make batter: In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, oil, eggs, and water until a smooth batter forms.
- Make cinnamon swirl: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Stir in the chopped pecans if using.
- Layer the batter: Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top. Finish by sprinkling the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
- Swirl (optional): Use a butter knife or wooden skewer to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter for a marbled effect.
- Bake 45–50 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes in the pan, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Glaze (if using): In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk/cream, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.
- Slice and serve! Store covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Tip: For extra donut-like flavor, add 1/2 tsp nutmeg or a splash of maple extract to the batter. Reheat individual slices in the microwave for 15 seconds for a warm treat!
