Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (optional, for moisture)
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar (for sprinkling, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease well.

- Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
- Combine: Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Stir with a spatula until *just* combined. Do not overmix (a few lumps are fine).
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Fill muffin cups: Divide batter evenly among cups, filling each about 3/4 full.
- Sprinkle: Lightly sprinkle a pinch of sugar on top for a sweet, golden crust (optional).
- Bake 18–22 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool 5 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Serve warm — delicious plain or with a pat of butter!
