π Chicken Parmesan
This **Chicken Parmesan** is crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and smothered in rich marinara sauce and melted mozzarella and parmesan cheese. A classic Italian-American favorite thatβs perfect for weeknight dinners or impressing guests!
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded to 1/2 inch thickness)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese (plus more for topping)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
- 1/2 cup olive oil or vegetable oil (for frying)
- 2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil or parsley (for garnish, optional)
- Cooked pasta (for serving)
Instructions
- Prep chicken: Pound chicken breasts to even thickness. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Breading station: Set up three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and a mix of breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, and paprika.
- Bread chicken: Dredge each breast in flour (shake off excess), dip in egg, then coat in breadcrumb mixture. Press to adhere.
- Fry: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken 3β4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
- Add sauce and cheese: Place chicken in a baking dish. Top each with marinara sauce and mozzarella. Sprinkle with extra parmesan.
- Melt cheese: Broil in oven 2β3 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden (watch closely!).
- Serve: Garnish with fresh herbs and serve over cooked pasta!
Tip: For a lighter version, bake breaded chicken at 400Β°F for 20β25 minutes instead of frying. Spritz with oil for crispiness!
