This **Biscuits and Gravy Casserole** is a hearty, comforting breakfast dish that combines flaky biscuits, savory sausage gravy, and melty cheese into one delicious bake. Perfect for holiday mornings, potlucks, or a weekend brunch!
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
- 1 can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury Grands! Flaky Biscuits (8 count)
- 3 cups milk
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cook sausage: In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- Make the gravy: In the same skillet, melt 3 tbsp butter (or use sausage drippings). Whisk in flour and cook 1–2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook 5–7 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Season: Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Layer casserole: Cut biscuits into quarters. Spread half the biscuits in the baking dish. Top with half the cooked sausage and half the cheese. Repeat layers.
- Pour gravy: Slowly pour the hot gravy evenly over the top layer.
- Bake 25–30 minutes until bubbly and biscuits are golden brown.
- Garnish: Sprinkle with green onions if desired.
- Serve hot — great with a side of fruit or hash browns!
Tip: For a shortcut, use 4 cups of pre-made sausage gravy. Add a pinch of cayenne for extra heat!
