This **Best Ever Homemade Ranch Dressing** is creamy, tangy, and bursting with fresh herb flavor — no preservatives, no weird ingredients, just real food! Perfect for salads, dipping veggies, or drizzling over tacos and baked potatoes.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (real, not light)
- 1/2 cup sour cream (or plain Greek yogurt)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk (adjust for thickness)
- 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dried dill
- 1/4 tsp dried parsley
- 1/4 tsp dried chives
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice or white vinegar (optional, for extra tang)
- 1–2 tbsp fresh herbs (dill, parsley, chives) — optional, for fresh version
Instructions
- Mix base: In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.
- Add seasonings: Stir in garlic, onion powder, dill, parsley, chives, salt, pepper, and lemon juice (if using).
- Adjust consistency: Add more buttermilk for a thinner dressing, or less for a dip.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes (best after 1–2 hours) to let flavors blend.
- Taste and adjust: Before serving, stir well and adjust salt, garlic, or herbs to your liking.
- Serve: Use as a salad dressing, veggie dip, baked potato topper, or sandwich spread!
Tip: Store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 1 week. Shake or stir before each use. For a fresh herb ranch, double the fresh herbs and reduce dried herbs by half!
