Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread (about 12 inches long)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp dried parsley
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
- Prepare bread: Slice the loaf in half lengthwise to create a top and bottom. Place both halves cut-side up on a baking sheet.
- Make garlic butter: In a bowl, mix softened butter, garlic, black pepper, and parsley until smooth.
- Spread butter: Evenly spread the garlic butter on both cut sides of the bread.
- Add fillings: Sprinkle shredded cheddar and crumbled bacon over the bottom half. Top with the buttered top half (buttered side up).
- Wrap in foil (optional): For softer bread, wrap the loaf loosely in foil.
- Bake 15β20 minutes until bread is warm and cheese is melted. For a crispier top, bake uncovered the last 5 minutes.
- Finish: Sprinkle with Parmesan and green onions.
- Serve warm β great with soups, chili, or as a party appetizer!
Tip: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat, or swap cheddar for mozzarella for a milder flavor!
