🍗 Chicken and Cheese Dog Treats
These **Chicken and Cheese Dog Treats** are soft, chewy, and packed with real chicken flavor and a hint of cheddar — made with just a few simple ingredients your pup will love. A healthy, homemade alternative to store-bought treats!
Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked chicken, finely shredded or blended
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup water or low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp olive oil or melted coconut oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Blend chicken: For a smooth texture, blend cooked chicken with water or broth until a paste forms. (You can leave it shredded for a chunkier treat.)
- Mix wet ingredients: In a bowl, combine chicken mixture, egg, and oil.
- Add dry ingredients: Stir in flour, cheese, and oats. Mix until a firm dough forms. Add more flour if too sticky.
- Roll and cut: Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut into small shapes (bones, squares, etc.).
- Bake 20–25 minutes until golden and firm to the touch.
- Cool completely before serving.
- Store: Keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
Tip: Always check with your vet before introducing new treats, especially if your dog has allergies. Avoid garlic, onions, and xylitol!
